Construction of new PWL residence in Vegreville
sparks interest

Residents at Points West Living Heritage House in Vegreville are keeping a keen eye on the construction project next door. It’s a brand new 36-unit condo building, which will expand the independent supportive living capacity of Heritage House to 54 suites. Scheduled to open this summer, the condos will provide a fresh new housing option for area seniors. 

Work already moving indoors

Work on the building began last October and has progressed quickly through the winter. Today, the walls are up, roof is on and most of the work is moving indoors.

The building is a 3-level, 36-suite independent living complex that is being built by Clark Builders (design build contractor), with the suites divided up as follows:
     • 27 one-bedroom units (9 per floor)
     • 3 one-bedroom-plus-den units (1 per floor)
     • 6 two-bedroom units (2 per floor)

Elevators and patios

According to Tracy Palidwor, Project Manager for Points West Living, the building will contain two elevator shafts. “We are currently installing one, allowing for a secondary elevator down the road if required.” She adds, “There will be a gathering space/lounge on the main floor, which will lead to a newly constructed west side patio, plus we have provided a second floor deck for additional outside space.” Each suite will be fitted with fridge, stove, dishwasher, and stackable washer and dryer sets.

Wait list

PWL Vegreville General Manager Alexis Bauer says there has been a lot of interest in the project from people in the Vegreville area, and 52 names are already on a waitlist. “People tend to put their name down quite far in advance,” Alexis says, “So we won’t know how many will be ready to make the move until the suites are ready, which is scheduled for July.”
