Century Park’s Genie Wenzel-Bill is enjoying the afternoons she spends getting to know a group of grade six girls taking part in an onsite discussion group.

The group meets weekly as part of a community initiative that asks participants to reflect on what it means to be a girl today and in the good old days.

People Before Paperwork, LPN Manager Says

Century Park staff are learning to incorporate spontaneous recreation in the lives of seniors who make their home at the Points West Living facility.

“Spontaneous recreation could be going for a walk, playing a game of cards, or setting up a tea party for a couple of residents and sitting down with them,” said LPN Manager Todd Fallen. “That’s the most important part. Being part of it and including the staff, not just standing back and watching.”

Vegreville Is Ready To Attract Physicians

Taneen Rudyk is a Town of Vegreville Councillor and a member of the Vegreville region Physician Attraction and Retention Committee (PARC).

Vegreville has recently seen two Physicians leave town and this has caused a number of groups to contact the Town of Vegreville with their concerns. Rudyk says, “The Town is on the upswing and is ready to attract Physicians. Healthcare isn’t a municipal responsibility, but we’ve had to answer that call from our citizens.”

Vegreville Centennial Library Reaches Out To Seniors

Donna Williams, Program Coordinator and Assistant Manager for the Vegreville Centennial Library. says that the library has a Senior’s Outreach Program. A volunteer will come to the library, pick up books and deliver them to any senior or to a senior’s caregiver. “We have an extensive collection of large print books. We have a large DVD collection and audio books.” Williams says.
