A parade, puppies and a pony
highlight Stampede Week

July 8th, 2017

Stampede week is always a busy time for residents of Points West Living Wainwright. There’s the rodeo, agriculture fair and the parade. This year stormy weather cancelled residents’ plans to watch the chuckwagon races, but when the parade came around on June 24th, they came out in force – and the rain held off.

Canada 150

The 2017 Stampede Week parade was extra special this year, in recognition of the Canada 150 Celebration. And it was special for the 20 residents who bussed out to watch the parade sitting curbside with their friends at Battle River Lodge.

Earlier in the week, there was a parade of animals at PWL Wainwright; not an actual parade, but many special visits. First, resident Winnie Clark’s daughter Linda Gilbertson dropped by with her miniature pony – all dressed up for Canada Day. “Buddy was a huge hit in our back yard, spreading the rodeo spirit,” says recreation coordinator Jenna (Hopaluk) Doll. “Linda also brought carnations to hand out to each resident as well as Alberta pins for everyone.”

Some puppies came to call the day of Buddy’s visit, and dog loving residents got to enjoy these social canines as well.
