Residents get creative with a paintbrush
at PWL Cold Lake

May 8th, 2017

Residents at Points West Living Cold Lake had wonderful time recently mixing colours and filling canvases. They enjoyed it so much that what had been scheduled as a one day painting activity stretched into two days in a row.

Mountains, meadows and a stream

Their first foray with a paintbrush was to create a landscape. Recreation coordinator Angela Benoit used her own landscape painting to walk everyone through the classic landscape elements of mountains, meadows and a stream.

Painting... brings out the brighter side

In the second session, Angela asked residents to paint whatever came to mind. That’s when she captured this photo of Elsie Dahlseide (pictured above). “Elsie is always one who enjoys painting, whether it’s by number, with strings or freehand,” says Angela. “During this painting session Elsie began with a beautiful sunny glow in the sky and then added some fern trees and grass at the bottom. It was wonderful to see her smiling and laughing along with the other residents. Painting definitely brings out the brighter side to everyone involved.”

Angela says many residents have painted at some point in their lives and were very happy to do it again.
