Resident welcomes outdoor chores,
even in the dead of winter

Feb 9th, 2017

Betty Peterson loves to be outdoors and spends hours in the spring, summer and fall, walking and working to beautify the backyard gardens at Points West Living Wainwright. And when the snow flies, temperatures dip, and the wind howls, she just bundles up and switches her tools; to a snow shovel and a bucket of bird feed.

Not even the coldest mornings stop her!

“This winter Betty has been devoted to making sure the wild birds are fed daily, no matter the weather,” says recreation coordinator Jenna Hopaluk, “Today the sun is shining, but it is still a little nippy out there – minus-twenty, not including the wind chill! And when it snows overnight, Betty still heads out to feed the sparrows and do a little shoveling.”

General Manager Shannon Pugh echoes Jenna’s admiration, “Betty has such a helpful spirit. Not even the coldest mornings stop her! She is a trooper.”
