Playing all the Reindeer Games

December 22nd, 2021

Who knew ‘reindeer games’ could be so inventive! And everyone was welcome, even Rudolph. “Residents at Points West Living Wainwright are always up for a night of fun and laughter,” says General Manager Carli Lopez. The evening of December 12 was full of novel activities, jokes, and hoots of laughter.

Fun, games, and a little Phys-Ed

Physical movement was a big part of the evening. “We played the classic jingle bell toss,” says Carli, “encouraging residents to swing their arms and bend their hips, all while trying to focus on catching a small jingle bell in their cup.”

“We stuffed balloons into the legs of pantyhose and transformed Barry Marshall and Jim Jury (in above photo) into reindeer,” Carli adds. “They ended up play fighting.”

Physical restrictions up the challenge

Residents built marshmallow snowmen using chopsticks (no fingers). They teamed up to wrap presents with one resident using only their left hand, and the other using only the right; and they tried to ‘pin the nose on Rudolph’ using only their noses to nudge a cotton ball ‘nose’ into place.

Everyone's a winner

Everyone came out a winner in the ‘minute to win it’ games, with Barry Marshall joking to Carli that, “We’re all going to need to see a chiropractor tomorrow!” The evening wrapped up with everyone sitting around tables with mugs of hot cocoa, sweet biscuits, and the warm camaraderie that comes from a joyful and memorable experience shared.
