Winning photos show lots of love in PWL communities

November 7th, 2019

Following a week of enthusiastic online voting, the winners of the 2019 Points West Living Photo Contest have been decided. Each of the winning photos features a resident, giving and receiving love. Congratulations to…

First Place Winner

Allyn Andrews, Interim General Manager of Points West Living Lloydminster, who snapped this delightful photo of resident Josephine (Josie) Lirette and Healthcare Aide Jane Brown. “It was in the morning and Josie wasn’t ready to get up,” says Allyn. “So Jane said, ‘How about I cuddle you until you’re ready?’”

“They were having a good chuckle. It was a sweet moment.”

Allyn is going to contribute her prize money to PWL Lloydminster’s recreation team. “Josie likes to bake, so we’re going to buy her some new baking things.”

Second Place Winner

Amber Hoogenberg has worked as a Healthcare Aide at Points West Living Stettler since it opened in 2013. Two of her photos share second place in the contest, and both feature her son Wyatt with resident Arthur (Marion) McCarthy.

“Wyatt loves to come to work with me,” says Amber. “When I work on Marion’s cottage, Wyatt loves to visit with him. They team up as partners for trivia, and even throw an exercise ball back and forth to each other in the hallway. Or, they head back to Marion’s room and do puzzles.”

Third Place Winner

Willow the young German shorthaired pointer featured in this recent PWL News article brings a healthy dose of puppy love to residents at Points West Living Stettler. Care partner Emily Morrison (aka ‘mom’), is responsible for Willow’s exemplary behavior when she visits with Emily. Willow is shown here with resident Trevor Lee.

“Outside of Points West Living, Willow enjoys shed (antler) hunting, fishing, hiking and going to the dog park,” says Emily. “When the camera is pointing at Willow she will surely pose for a photo.”
