Pumpkin carving, caring, and sharing at PWL Lac La Biche

October 23rd, 2019

A group of residents from Points West Living Lac la Biche gathered to carve pumpkins recently, and in sharing the task, they shared their own experiences and traditions. They also revealed their creativity and skills.

Vision and design

About six people participated in carving the pumpkins, with a few more watching from the sidelines. Residents put out their design ideas and care partner Charity Shannon helped them bring their visions to reality.

Carving and sharing

“During the carving session,” says Recreation Therapist Anoop Jose, “residents were sharing their past experiences with me. That included their Halloween celebrations, family get-togethers, farming and so on. It was a great opportunity for me to learn lots of new things from the residents.”

It also resulted in wonderfully carved jack-o-lanterns, which have been placed in each cottage and common area in preparation for Halloween.
