Family gathers for happily-ever-after wedding anniversary

September 5th, 2019

The love story of Hedy and Alvin Klause is the stuff of novels – fortunately the happily-ever-after kind. The couple, who have made Points West Living Wetaskiwin their home since April of this year, recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary there along with family and friends.

Courtship

Family members shared the story of Alvin’s and Hedy’s courtship, which began the moment Alvin saw Hedy (Grams) riding her bicycle down Main Street in Wetaskiwin, and continued throughout their years at Wetaskiwin Composite High School.

The real test to their relationship came when Hedy graduated and informed Alvin she was leaving to pursue her dreams of a musical career. Both Hedy and Alvin were very musical, Hedy on the piano and Alvin on violin. The family shares, “Although this was no surprise to Alvin, he was deeply saddened by the news, and he told Hedy with the absolute certainty of a man in love, ‘I will wait for you forever’.”

"I just had to wait for her"

Several years passed, before Hedy returned from her studies at the University of Alberta and went immediately to find Alvin, who by that time had taken over the family business, David Klause and Son Dry Cleaning and Tailoring. “Upon reflection on that wonderful day when Hedy returned from her studies, Alvin said, ‘No girl could match her, so I knew I just had to wait for her.’”

Happy Anniversary Hedy and Alvin
