Cold rainy weather doesn’t dampen spirit
of Seniors Week

June 10th, 2019

The week of June 3 was Seniors Week across Alberta, and while it started out with pleasant weather, by the end of the week it was miserable. Points West living Wainwright had big plans for the week, and most of them came together just fine. The annual Seniors Week barbeque however, will just have to be rescheduled for a sunny day in July.

The Seniors Week started off on Monday June 3, with an official proclamation held in PWL Wainwright’s new recreation room (photo above), followed with coffee and muffins.

On Wednesday there was a sing-along. “Our residents love to come out for the music,” says Jenna Doll, recreation coordinator. “Some claim that they come to listen but can’t sing, but almost every time you see those same residents tapping their toes and singing along.”

On Thursday, PWL residents went visiting over to Continuing Care at the Wainwright Hospital for an afternoon of music, ice cream and good company.

Then, on Friday… “Our barbeque was cancelled due to rain so we will be doing it another week in July,” says Jenna. “But the Karaoke party still went on in the afternoon, and employee care partners and residents were able to enjoy a fun, cozy afternoon together.”
