Wine and cheese reception draws visitors
to PWL Wainwright’s new expansion

April 5th, 2019

Points West Living Wainwright’s new Independent Supportive Living (ISL) expansion is open and welcoming new residents. To spread the word, Points West Living recently held a wine and cheese reception, attracting visitors from throughout the Wainwright area.

Blustery evening

Considering the March snowstorm blowing that evening, PWL Marketing Manager Franco Matina says he was very pleased with the number of visitors who came out. “One gentleman came all the way from Camrose (150 km west), and in all, we welcomed about 25 guests.”

Complimentary wine and artisanal cheese

Guests were invited to enjoy a glass of complimentary wine, and savour cheese samples from local cheese maker, Old School Cheesery. A couple of other local artisans handed out samples of their products, and one artist set up a gallery of her artwork.

Tour of the building and the community

Tours of the new 4-storey 48-suite building, especially the show suite, were a highlight for visitors. Franco says he had lots of opportunities to share with guests the things that set Points West Living apart. “It’s all about peace of mind,” he says. “I explained how Eden makes retirement living here different from what is available elsewhere. It is your home and your family. You still have all the freedom and independence you’re used to, but also the peace of mind and security that no unexpected costs are going to crop up. Plus you have people with medical training in the building next to us.”

"We should have a monthly social here"

Current residents were able to share in the enjoyment of the evening as well, says General Manager Darcie Gibb. “There was music with guest flautist Ruth Jamison and our very own Doreen Bell (pictured above) on the piano,” she says, “And we had two draws; one for a gift basket of wine, cheese and chocolate, and another for a weekend ‘staycation’ including all meals in our lovely new guest suite.”

“Some residents were saying we should have a monthly social here in our beautiful new recreation hall,” adds Darcie, “where everybody gets together for a bit of fun.”
