Two newly minted LPNs celebrate
new positions at PWL Stettler

January 21st, 2019

Two Health Care Aides at Points West Living Stettler celebrated achieving their LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) designations recently. They received confirmation in early January that both had successfully passed the competency exams. And as it turns out, there were jobs waiting for them right on site.

Nurses in India

Chinnu Mathai (with certificate left) and Nimisha Thankachan (centre) were both nurses in their native country of India and were required to write a competency exam before being able to practise in Canada. Nimisha started with PWL Stettler in 2013 and Chinnu came in 2016. Both have worked as HCAs until they were able to write their exams.

Ecstatic they can continue employment with us

“I’m ecstatic that these two fine care partners can continue their employment with us in their new roles as LPNs,” said General Manager Carol Dyck (far right in photo). When Nimisha said she plans to work at PWL Stettler for another 35 years, Carol quipped, “Oh excellent! I will be a resident here by then.”

Impromptu celebration

Management care partners held an impromptu celebration to celebrate on January 4, with party horns and an ice cream cake. Nimisha and Chinnu (whose husband Darvin Jacob John is also an LPN at PWL Stettler) brought pizza to thank their colleagues for their support during the exam time.

Congratulations Chinnu and Nimisha!
