Apples and turkeys make for great
pre-Thanksgiving activities
October 23rd, 2017
Residents at Points West Living Wainwright enjoyed two work bees in the days leading up to Thanksgiving. The first was triggered by a huge donation of apples, and second was for the pleasure of making and sharing beautiful things.
Most tasty
The apple work bee was the most tasty. Residents and care partners sat around the kitchen in the Memory Cottage, peeling and slicing enough apples to make applesauce, apple muffins, apple crisp and apple pie; all the while sharing recipes and stories.
More crafty
The turkey work was a little more crafty and took two days to complete. The flower tailed birds were assembled as centerpieces for Thanksgiving Dinner. As care partner Shauna Lee Carlson says, “All of the ladies really had fun doing this craft.” And with the turkey centerpieces brightening the tables, she adds, “We had a lovely meal here on Monday, October 9, and enjoyed a beautiful sunny day.”
